On October 26th, Spot of the Week (click) audaciously, some might say controversially; predicted November and early December as being the prime weeks to be in the Masai Mara. The same anodyne, mundane guide books and brochures that told you the migration finishes in September are the ones that tell you this time of year is low season. Throw that literature out with the trash. They are wrong. Kicheche is not complaining, delighted that so many people believe this predictable bilge.
Last week the Mara was empty except for a handful of full Kicheche landcruisers. Really empty, not another vehicle to be seen. The grasslands were not empty of predators. The river was still choked with zebra, the baked plains still bruised by thundering wildebeest hooves.
