24th September 2012 Kicheche Camps

Dear Kicheche Mara, Bush & Valley Camps,

Last week’s Spotted edition interested me no end. Certainly a cheetah with anycubs is worthy of documentation. If my remedial arithmetic is correct, the total was a somewhat paltry five. In Laikipia our cheetah single parent family are in rude good health, the difference being we need two hands to count them.A churlish point-scoring missive ? We think not, at 1900m it’s always easier to take the high ground.
Yours,

In Response,

Generally we try not to get involved in unseemly numerical cat-fights, but last week’s momentous events compel me to reply.

Pink-nose is so famous in the conservancy, he is almost royalty. For a male leopard he is remarkably tolerant, not one of those that can only be photographed from half a mile away. Even a shabby, salacious, Gallic pondlife paparazzi used to churning out frogsporn; could have grabbed this money shot.

Leopards mating, in a tree, let me know when you get that sort of Northern exposure Laikipia.

Yours,
