A herd crossing a river is only a tiny part of the annual migration. Many are obsessed by this phenomenon and will wait around all day for a few stragglers to limp across. Not Patrick, he only goes near the river when the beasts are well into five figures. Greg du Toit was in his vehicle, a man who knows more than a little about photography, as do his clients (thanks for the amazing image Simon Pang).
With all the lion cubs and indeed cheetah youngsters (view here) it was a surprise they got anywhere near the river. Top work Patrick. And Greg.
